Training continues
We have been flat out learning new skills and setting up for the season.
Mike Butcher (APMS) continues to show us tracks and traces of different animals but has also gone into health and safety in the bush and remote areas and 4 wheel driving. Making sure we all are comfortable driving on soft sand and rough terrain, vehicle maintenance, changing flat tyres and how to get out of bog – essential skills for the coming months of field work. We have also been organising our office area and checking that all the equipment is in working order.
All is moving along well at the moment and the bright blue skies and turquoise ocean make the hard work fly by; we even get to see breaching humpback whales from our front door! It really is like the ‘desert meets the sea’ at Gnaraloo – we can’t believe this is our workplace for the next 4 months, it’s unreal.
